For Business

England’s Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) were launched in 1999 and are helping to spread economic prosperity and opportunity across the nine regions of England. The RDAs take a business-led approach and have brought vitality and expertise to the task of economic development and regeneration in the English regions. They work to enable local communities to fulfil their economic ambitions and make the most of the opportunities globalisation brings.

Each RDA is working with partners to build on their region’s natural assets and business strengths, develop the knowledge based economy, revitalise places and meet the needs of regional businesses.  RDAs are leading work to reduce carbon emissions and ensure a healthy and sustainable future for everyone.  The English regions have already achieved some impressive transformations to become truly world class locations and have the potential to achieve even more in the future.

Working closely with UK Trade and Investment both in the UK and overseas, RDA’s play a key role in attracting and retaining high value foreign direct investment to their regions as well as helping businesses already based in the English regions fully develop their International Trade potential and access new markets overseas.

The RDAs approach to economic development is primarily business-led.  Each RDA has its own business development priorities based on their Regional Economic Strategy.
