UK energy companies currently generate revenues of more than £90 billion from domestic and international business and employ 600,000 staff. The UK has become a centre of renewable energy and, last year, the UK overtook Denmark as having the world’s largest installed capacity of offshore wind electricity generation.
The UK is a global centre for research excellence in clean and sustainable energy, with world-famous institutions like Imperial College’s Energy Futures Lab researching carbon capture and storage, biofuel and solar.
The UK Energy Industry has had a long and successful relationship with China resulting in mutually beneficial collaborations and partnerships in all areas of energy. Companies such as BP, Shell, AMEC, Doosan Babcock, Greens Power and Garrad Hassan. UK institutions have been at the vanguard of carbon offset trading in China.
