Corporate Social Responsibility and Social Enterprise in 2010
The UK Pavilion at Shanghai Expo 2010 has scooped Britain’s top international architectural award, the prestigious Royal Institute of British Architects’ (RIBA) Lubetkin Prize for the most outstanding work of architecture outside the European Union.
RIBA, the UK body responsible for architecture, announced the winner at a presentation ceremony at their headquarters in London yesterday (Tuesday 29th).
On Thursday 15 July, China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong (CELAP) will host a symposium on "The role of corporate social responsibility and social enterprise in 2010." The event will explore the relationship between government, business and civil society as part of a weeklong programme of events supported by the British Consulate-General Shanghai and Barclays on the theme of civil society.
An invited audience from business, government, academia, civil society and the media will listen to talks and participate in question and answer sessions. Experts from the UK and China speaking at the event include representatives from Barclays, DLA Piper, Forth Sector and CELAP.
British Consul General Carma Elliot, who will be opening the event, said: "The UK has one of the largest and most vibrant civil society sectors in the world. Corporate Social Responsibility programmes are commonplace in the business world and social enterprises contribute over £24 billion to the UK economy, employing more than 800,000 people. This event is an opportunity to bring experts from the UK and China together to discuss the increasingly complex and important relations between government, business and civil society, acknowledging the role that civil society organisations have in building better cities and better lives."
Vice President Jiang Haishan from CELAP said, “This event is very important during the Shanghai EXPO. Corporate Social Responsibility, Social Enterprises, and the interaction among government, business and civil society will play a key role to make better city and better life. In the global world of 21st Century, especially during the period of post financial crisis, Corporate Social Responsibility and Social Enterprises are significant to not only China and UK but also the whole world.”
