Summary:
The Homes for Future Fulfilment Architectural Best Practice and Solutions Workshop will bring together UK and Chinese architects, Chinese students, property developers and academics in small groups to develop architectural design concepts and solutions for three sites in Shanghai, selected by the Shanghai Urban Planning and Land Resource Administration Bureau.
Topics will include:
Working in 2-D and 3-D media, the results will deliver real life design solutions to issues that affect all architectural planning in modern cities. They will be to an eminent panel, including UK architects, Sir Terry Farrell and Sunand Prasad.
The workshop provides an opportunity for genuine dialogue between the UK and China. It will explore how Chinese society, as it changes, can deal with family life cycles through careful thought to home and neighbourhood that avoids some of the mistakes of the West. The strength of Chinese family traditions as well as contrasting approaches to centralised planning provides opportunities for the UK to learn from its hosts as well as they from us.
Who should attend:
For the creative event, architects and architectural students together with some non-creatives such as property developers and / or planners.
At the presentation at the end of the day, there will be an invited audience comprising opinion-formers from Shanghai and beyond, including from the Shanghai Urban Planning and Land Resource Administration Bureau.

5.30pm – 8.30am: presentations by the six groups
8.30pm onwards: drinks and finger food
